Does your life seem too flat, too dull, in a word, too smooth?  Then
this semester devoted to singularities is for you!

The study of singularities is central to many fields of sciences. For
example, changes of state, genetic mutations, storms or economic
crises can be seen as singularities of physical, biological, climatic
or economic systems, i.e. moments of rupture in a regular evolution.

The semester will present techniques, results and applications related
to the mathematical study of singularities in various geometric
contexts: differential, symplectic, algebraic, analytic, real and/or
complex, motivic. It will emphasize interactions with other fields,
such as topology, mathematical physics and combinatorics.

The alternation of schools, conferences and workshops that make up
this semester should interest mathematicians of all ages eager to
discover the topic or deepen their knowledge.
